Remember an article or a talk: 4 steps

📄 Words, numbers, names are the bricks. But how do you remember a text — an article, a talk, a textbook chapter? Word-for-word is rarely needed. Usually you need the meaning: main ideas and facts.
1️⃣ Read it through. Once, calmly. Understand what it’s about.
2️⃣ Pick out the key ideas — usually one per paragraph. Write each in one or two words.
3️⃣ Turn each idea into an image. Concrete — as is; abstract — a symbol or a sound-alike; numbers — a code.
4️⃣ Place the images: in the Roman room if order matters; as a chain or story if the text is short.
❤️ Example from the course: “the heart is the size of a fist”, point 7. 7 is a scythe. A scythe cuts open a fist, and inside a heart is beating.
🎤 The same for a speech: ideas → images → room. Forgot a point? Move to the next place and nobody will notice.
✍️ Exercise from the course module: take a one-page article, go through the four steps and retell it in your own words an hour later.
