What this book will give you
This book is for those who already read charts, their own and others', and want to go through the tenth house in depth. I have gathered here what I said about it on the basic course, at the intensive on derived meanings and in practice: the nature of the house, its meanings, the lord of the tenth by house, planets and signs, the twelve reference points and how to talk about work in a consultation.
What you will get:
- the names of the tenth house and its main meanings;
- the tenth house as the throne of the horoscope and as the house of deeds;
- what an astrologer can and cannot say about a profession;
- the lord of the tenth in each of the twelve houses;
- twelve reference points, each on a separate diagram;
- how to translate each meaning into a person's ability;
- planets and signs in the tenth house;
- methods of harmonisation and a practicum for your own chart and for consultation.
Twelve reference points
When you learn the derived meanings, you will develop an astrologer's vision. I used to be a football referee, running with a flag on the line, and I was told: “Andrey, develop your peripheral vision. You have to see the left and right side of the field at once.” It's the same here: you see not just the tenth house and the fourth, but what one is from the other. Each meaning works through the lord of the tenth: go where it has gone.
Tenth from the first
Status, success, reaching the heights, work, career. This is the maximum summit. If, for example, Saturn stands here, status comes slowly, the career develops slowly. In a bad sign it can first drop a person very hard and then gradually raise them: the person soared, stumbled, fell. In a good sign, in exaltation, Saturn doesn't drop. Look at the sign and the lord.
Second from the ninth
Work as the maintenance of dharma, deeds that support faith. A two-twelve relationship: work feeds our philosophy. Formal religiosity is not enough; work is needed, right deeds for the good of society. They say: faith without works is dead.
If malefics stand in the tenth house, they inject poison straight into the ninth house, poisoning spirituality. Then one needs to harmonise through the lord of the tenth, unfolding the higher sides of the house and the planets.
If a person studies, studies, studies and never goes out to people, what can one say? There's no need to drag this out.
Third from the eighth
Work and deeds are the effort to overcome a crisis and maintain vitality. A home-grown philosopher sits in the eighth house, in crisis. He is told: “Go and consult already, do something in the outer world.” But he sits and philosophises, and his philosophy is fed by nothing and brings no money. The number three says: go, strain yourself, make the effort, and you will solve the problems of the eighth house.
There is a literary hero who constantly moans: women don't love him, no money, old, ill. We too sometimes moan through the eighth house. Here it is said: make the effort. Prayers, turning to God and to dharma will support you too.
